It’s the turn of the century and whilst the rest of the world rapidly industrialises, Copper County is struggling to keep up. Traditional industries of this once thriving rural district are dying and the town is on its last legs. Those that haven’t fled the troubled district to more profitable areas are resolved to invent their way out of difficulty. The spirit of progress is alive in the old county, with visions of a better future and an old train within the county limits that some say glows at points an early blue.
Two of the greatest minds that reside in the district have pitted their wits against each other and hope to sway the scales of public opinion in their favour to be crowned the best in Copper County. Sitting below this duel a host of characters inhabit the district wrapped up in the competition but also with their own loves.
The Ballad of Copper County was a four day fully immersed performance as part of Boomtown 2022. It involved a company of 70 multi-disciplinary performers that included theatre, music and circus.
